An outspoken advocate of educational equity, Dr. Nicole Baker Fulgham is the founder and president of The Expectations Project — a faith-based, nonprofit organization that mobilizes individuals and resources to enact local and national change for low-income public schools. Born in Detroit, Nicole graduated from the University of Michigan and joined Teach for America (TFA) where she taught 5th grade in Compton, CA. She later earned her doctorate in education from UCLA with a focus on urban education policy and teacher preparation. The author of two books, Educating All God’s Children and Schools in Crisis, Nicole also held several key leadership roles within the TFA national staff before starting The Expectations Project. She currently resides near DC with her husband and their three children.
